Day 2 — Hydrate

Day 2 — Hydrate

We created the 10-day Self-Care Challenge to remind you of simple strategies that you can use to prioritize yourself and help clients better. Day 2 is all about getting hydrated!

Staying hydrated is super important to maintaining overall health. Today, we want to bring your focus to this very important habit.

Too often we forget to drink enough water and it doesn’t take long for our bodies to take notice. Here are some signs that you may not be getting enough good old H2O

  • You’re often constipated.
  • You’ve been getting headaches.
  • Experiencing fatigue.
  • Noticing some weight gain.
  • Your eyes are dry.
  • You catch the flu, or colds, more often than usual.

Did you know? Over 70% of the human brain is water.

Here’s why we challenge you to make staying hydrated part of your daily self-care ritual, starting now!

  • Staying hydrated literally helps your body to function. Every system in your body needs fluids in order to function properly. This includes your heart, muscles, and brain. Water also helps transport nutrients to your cells.
  • It’s great for your skin. If your skin ever feels dry or is looking dull, it may be a sign that you’re not getting enough H2O. Keeping hydrated can help improve breakouts, reduce dryness, and make your skin more vibrant and less prone to wrinkles!
  • Water helps your body detoxify. Drinking fluids throughout the day will help your body flush toxins and bacteria from your bladder and can help prevent instances of constipation.

Ok, we get it, plain water can be boring. Of course, drinking pure H2O all by itself is a great way to get and stay hydrated, but there are many ways you can bring your water game to the next level. Use some fresh fruit, vegetables or even herbs to infuse your water with flavor. You can also drink carbonated water or herbal tea instead.

Try it out:

Aim to drink 8 cups (64oz) of water a day whether it’s carbonated, infused, or herbal tea. Start today by trying out one of our yummy recipes below or get creative and make up your own recipe!
