Google Docs + Practice Better

Create a Google Doc from your template automatically when a client is added, books, buys a package, or enrolls.

What is Google Docs?

Google Docs is a cloud word processor for creating and sharing documents. When you link the Google Docs Connector, Practice Better creates a Google Doc from your template whenever a new client is added, a booking is confirmed, a package is purchased, or a client enrolls in a program. Google Docs is available with the Connector Hub add-on on Plus and Team plans, and it is linked separately from the Gmail and Google Sheets Connectors. See every Google Docs workflow.

What you can do with Google Docs

Prepare a client record at sign-up — A new client triggers a document from your template.

Start a session document at booking — A confirmed booking creates a Doc ready for your notes or prep.

Document package purchases — A confirmed package creates its own document from the template you choose.

Set up program documents on enrollment — An enrollment creates a Doc for that client and program.

How the Google Docs connector works

Connect your Google account

The practice owner connects one Google account through a one-time authorization.

Choose your templates

Each practitioner then chooses their own document templates and naming. Solo practitioners complete both steps themselves.

Map your template variables

Add template variables in double curly braces, like {{firstName}} {{lastName}}, to your Doc and map each one to a Practice Better field.

Connect Google Docs in minutes.

Turn on Connector Hub, link your Google account, and Practice Better creates documents from your templates automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Does Practice Better integrate with Google Docs?

Yes. Practice Better connects with Google Docs through the Google Docs Connector in Connector Hub. Documents are created from your Google Doc templates when client events happen.

Which Practice Better plans include the Google Docs Connector?

The Google Docs Connector is part of Connector Hub, a paid add-on for Plus and Team plans at $49/month. You also need an active Google account. Starter and Professional plans can upgrade to get access. Learn more about pricing.

Which events create a Google Doc?

A document is created when a new client is added, a booking is confirmed, a package is confirmed, or a client enrolls in a program. Connector Hub workflows run in the background whenever the event happens. See all Google Docs workflows.

Do I need to create my template first?

We recommend creating your template in Google Docs before you set up the Connector. If you need to make it first, you can exit setup and come back to finish your configuration at any time.

How do template variables work?

Variable names must start with a letter and contain only letters and numbers, and camelCase is recommended, such as firstName or dateCreated. Add them to your Doc wrapped in double curly braces and create a matching field mapping for each one.

Can my team members use the Google Docs Connector?

Yes, on a Team plan. The practice owner turns on the Manage Connectors permission for each role and connects Google Docs first, then team members configure their own settings. Connectors are not available to admin team members.

How do I disconnect Google Docs?

Any practitioner can delete their own Google Docs configuration, and the practice owner can unlink Google Docs for the whole practice from Connector Hub settings. Unlinking affects every team member who has Google Docs set up.
